About this piece
A magenta kaftan with tonal floral chain stitch at the neckline and sleeve openings, photographed outdoors by its owner. Aari work is chain stitch worked with a hooked needle, the aari. The hook draws a continuous loop up through the cloth, which is what gives the line its raised, unbroken quality. Made in rayon. Free size, length approx. 54 in. This is a single piece — one of one. When it sells it is gone, and nothing identical replaces it, because no two worked pieces come out the same. Prices include GST. Dry clean only; store folded in cotton muslin with a cedar block, never in plastic.
