You will find, on a great many sites selling Kashmiri work, a photograph of an elderly man at a loom and a first name. Very often neither belongs to anyone connected with the piece you are looking at. It is one of the most common untruths in this market, and it is told because it sells.
We would rather have an honest empty page than a moving invented one. Attributing work to a named artisan who does not exist is a straightforward lie, and once you have told it about one piece you have to keep telling it about all of them.
Naming someone is their decision, not ours
A person whose name and face appear on a commercial website has a real stake in how they are used. That is a conversation to have with them beforehand, with their agreement, not something to publish and apologise for later.
